Laura Veirs - To The Country

I am going to take back what I said earlier about Laura Veirs. She rocks. Some songs from her new album, Saltbreaker, have been leaking out and I am sold.

Dirty Projectors

I am not too sure what to think about Dirty Projectors. They are all over the place and mash so many styles I can't put my finger on them. One second hate, the next, love. They were touring with Grizzly Bear but unfortunately will not be with them for the NC show.

Muscles - Ice Cream

I caught the little bastard so now it is time for some music.

I just heard Muscles for the first time about 10 minutes ago on Music for Robots and I am ready to listen to it 15 more times. MfR described it as TV On the Radio meets Hot Chip.

I dedicate part of this song to E.B. and L.B. who know how best to rock the Montreal nightclub scene.

squirrel in the machine

I have a squirrel stuck in my attic. Until he is caught there will be no further posts.

James McNew

After seeing Yo La Tengo's show last night I felt that there needed to be a shout out to their bass player, the unsung hero of the band, James McNew. This guy is the squeaky voiced popster ying to Ira's feedback wail yang. If you have listened to Yo La's first three albums with the revolving line of bass players you understand what an anchor James is.

These are by his one man side project Dump from the album A Plea for Tenderness.

Dump - Clarity
Dump - Little Hat
Dump - White Worms (lyrics by Ernest Noyes Brookings)

Dosh

One of the jewels I discovered listening to Marathonpack's year-end remixes was Minneapolis's Dosh. If you liked the 'idea' of Squarepusher but didn't find his music easily approachable you should enjoy this.

Dosh - Um, Circles and Squares
Dosh - O Mexico

Both of these are from his latest release, The Lost Take, on Anticon records
